BERKS ARTS SELECTED FOR BUFFALO TRACE’S “100 BOURBON SETS FOR 100 CHARITIES” INITIATIVE

Berks Arts to raffle this rare, exclusive 3-bottle set from the Single Oak Project, the most extensive bourbon experiment ever undertaken. Approximate/estimated value $2,000 USD.

Initiative honors the legacy of Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr., an early owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery and champion for the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act

Buffalo Trace Distillery recently announced the 100 nonprofit organizations nationwide selected for its “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities” initiative. First announced in September 2023, Buffalo Trace will donate sets of the Distillery’s finest whiskeys to each chosen nonprofit organization for charitable fundraising initiatives. The contribution is inspired by Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., an early owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery and fervent supporter of the 1897 Bottled-In-Bond Act. This first-of-its-kind legislation increased quality and consumer safety in the bourbon industry.

Showcasing the Distillery’s commitment to preserving the legacy of Colonel Taylor, the “100” holds special meaning as it pays homage to 100 proof, one of several requirements for a whiskey to qualify as Bottled-in-Bond. Each organization was selected for their demonstrated commitment to improving their communities, which was also a driving force behind the passage of the Bottled-In-Bond Act as it ensured safer, improved whiskey production practices. In addition to selecting 100 recipients, on September 28, 2023, Buffalo Trace invited charities of all kinds from across the United States to apply for consideration within 100 days.

Selected nonprofits support their communities in various ways, ranging from food and shelter assistance; education and environmental causes; veteran’s programs; animal support; research, assistance and prevention of cancer, arts & culture, and more. Featured products for the “100 Bourbon Sets for 100 Charities” initiative include lineups from some of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s most sought-after, rare, exclusive brands.

The Bourbon Set awarded to Berks Arts is part of the most extensive bourbon experiment ever undertaken, The Single Oak Project.

ABOUT THE SINGLE OAK PROJECT

The Single Oak Project is the most extensive bourbon experiment ever undertaken.
For over two centuries Buffalo Trace Distillery has been a pioneering leader in quality and innovation. The Single Oak Project is our most inventive and comprehensive experiment yet.
It all started with 96 individually selected American oak trees that differed according to the number of growth rings per inch and growing location. Each tree was then cut into two parts - top and bottom - yielding 192 unique tree sections. A single barrel was constructed from each unique section.
Prior to construction we varied the stave seasoning times. The 192 barrels were then charred differently. These single oak barrels were then filled with different recipe whiskeys, at various entry proofs and aged in a variety of different warehouse styles. We believe that this experiment will allow you to directly compare the impact of 7 different critical variables across 192 bottles for a total of 1,396 taste combinations.
None of the 192 bottles in the complete set are exactly alike.
