Studio B Fine Art Gallery, 39A East Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown, PA, announces the opening of “What Inspires YOU?” on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.  The exhibit continues through November 5, 2023. An awards ceremony will be held between 6:00-7:00 p.m. and featured on Facebook LIVE. A virtual tour will be available following the opening.

Gallery director Susan Biebuyck encourages artists to consider the many sources of inspiration: music, nature, culture, color, patterns, smells, temperature, art supplies, trends, Instagram, literature, history, cars, for example.

Responses are meant to reflect a broad, open discussion about how inspiration influences creativity. The gallery invites all artists in all media. Works in oil, pencil, and watercolor to clay, glass, and fiber, will be represented. The exhibit will showcase dozens of local artists and offer an array of styles.

“Submissions will provide audiences with insight into the mind of the artist,” suggests Jane Stahl, Director of Community Relations. “I’m intrigued with what triggers creativity. I’ll invite the artists to share their triggers with me in one of my “B Inspired” podcast episodes. The ‘stories’ behind the artwork fascinates me.”

Juror for the exhibit is fine artist Will Dexter, co-founder of Taylor Backes Glass Studio with his wife Karla Trinkley. Both continue to develop individual styles, collaborate with other glass artists, and produce distinctive and innovative work. With a BFA from Tyler School of Art & an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design, Will lectures at Tyler, RISD, Pilchuk & Penland. His works can be found in the permanent collections of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The American Craft Museum, The Corning Museum of Glass, and the Smithsonian Institute, as well as respected collections across the globe.

Studio B, located in the heart of historic Boyertown, is the home of the Arts and Activities Alliance, a committee of Building a Better Boyertown, a nonprofit Main Street program dedicated to revitalizing small towns.

Studio B celebrates lifelong learning, creativity and personal involvement in the visual and communication arts and seeks to be a dynamic part of Boyertown community, a “go to” destination for learning, fun and friendship. The studio seeks to showcase the work of fine artists in themed exhibits—some juried, some open to all—and welcomes art in diverse media. In addition to art exhibits, workshops, and classes, Studio B also hosts activities and informal gatherings on assorted topics for small groups or meetings, gallery talks, and “Getting to Know You” opportunities.

Visitors are always welcome to view the changing exhibits; take lessons in the visual, literary, and communication arts offered by highly-trained local artists and teachers; and schedule small events or parties in its elegant facility.
